Text Management / Text Aid
3 Webinar Sessions and a 3 Day In-House Session

Webinar # 1 – Building the TextAid Foundation

Suggested Attendees: Store Manager, Text Department Manager and System Administrator.

Prerequisites: Participants should be the decision and policy makers for the store. At least one employee should have attended or is scheduled to attend the Implementation Workshop and the System Operator Workshop before enrolling in the Fundamentals of TextAid training session.

Course Objective: This Webinar is designed to assist the management staff in organizing the data necessary to establish a solid foundation for the implementation and utilization of the TextAid application. The topics addressed will require management to evaluate specific issues and areas in their store. Then management will need to make the appropriate decisions concerning how the application is to function.

  • User Profiles: Attendees will gain a basic understanding of establishing ‘sign on’ profiles. This will aid management in determining who should have access to TextAid.
  • Customization: Participants will examine the parameters necessary for establishing controls for various procedures in the application.
  • Database Management: Attendees will be provided with information in order to assist them in selecting the method and reviewing the procedure for updating the MBS Database.
  • Code Maintenance: A review of some basic set up codes necessary to begin using the TextAid application.
  • Inventory Management: An explanation of the differences between Term Inventory and Perpetual Inventory will be discussed.
  • Cross Applications: A discussion on the importance of the cross application functions and how they affect the value of the textbook inventory values in the stockledger.

All data gathered during the Course Objectives for each attending store is required before attending the 3 Day In-House TextAid Training session.

 

Fundamentals of TextAid

Suggested Attendees: Text Buyers, Text Department Managers and staff that management deems appropriate.

Prerequisites: Participants should have a working knowledge of the current processes used to manage their particular type of merchandise inventory. Familiarity with a computer workstation keyboard will ensure an effective learning experience. Each attendee should have previewed the training video, iSeries Operations for Text Management.

Course Objective: This course is designed to give the user hands-on experience completing the processes necessary for maintaining the inventory integrity. Participants will receive instructions and demonstrations for the following procedural disciplines of the TextAid application:

  • Adoptions: Participants will learn the functions required during the Adoption cycle. Additional features that will enhance job performance will be reviewed.
  • Buyback: A complete review of the Buyback cycle process will cover how to initialize the buy, buy the books and close out the buy.
  • Ordering: Purchase orders and Wantlists, the framework of the Ordering cycle, will be demonstrated. Participants will learn how to use the electronic ordering features available from TextAid.
  • Receiving: Complete step by step procedures with hands-on experience will be presented to all participants in this training session.
  • Returns: The Returns cycle from extractions to manual chargebacks will be demonstrated for the participants. Then, for hands-on experience, the participant will complete the operations.

Course Objectives will contain hands-on exercises and curriculum review. The review scores will be provided to store management at the completion of the training session.

Suggested Attendees: Text Buyers, Text Department Managers and staff that management deems appropriate.

Prerequisites: Participants should have a working knowledge of the current processes used to manage the textbook inventory using the TextAid application. Each attendee should have previewed the training video, iSeries Operations for Text Management.

Course Objective: This Webinar is designed to educate the text staff and the management on the cross application functions within TextAid that affect the inventory value in the stockledger.

  • Cross Application Issues: Major functions covered during this session include:
    • Invoices
    • Chargebacks
    • Price Changes
    • Buyback
    • Store Transfers
    • Sell Books to Wholesalers
  • Additional functions: Additional manual adjustments the staff must make to accommodate changes to the value of the inventory will also be discussed as needed.

 

Webinar # 3 - Course Import

Suggested Attendees: Text Buyers, Text Department Managers and staff that management deems appropriate.

Prerequisites: Participants should have a working knowledge of the current processes used to manage the textbook inventory using the TextAid application. This session is based on the feasibility of the implementing the Course Import feature. Each attendee should have previewed the training video, iSeries Operations for Text Management.

Course Objective: This Webinar is designed to educate the text staff and the management on the creation and the use of the Course Import feature within the TextAid application.

Participants in this Webinar will learn:

  • How Course Import works in general
  • How to pull the file across the network to your iSeries
  • How to process the file within the TextAid application
  • How to map the courses to ensure accurate information

 


TA2

Prerequisites: Participants should have a working knowledge of the current processes used to manage the textbook inventory using the TA2 application. Each attendee should have previewed the training video, iSeries Operations for Text Management.

Course Objective: This Webinar is designed to educate the text staff and the management on the Reserved Inventory concept used by TA2 to manage the textbook inventory.

The discussion covers the following concepts:

  • On-hand Reserved: Text books owned and attributed to the specific a term. Through this process, sales can then be posted to the specified term.
  • Reserved for Term: Any text books moved to On-hand Reserved increments Reserved for Term which in turn affects Open-To-Buy.
  • Saved Reserved: Recalls the Text books that have been moved from On-hand Reserved to On-hand Available. Sales can be still posted to the proper term.

Course Objective: This Webinar is designed to educate the text staff and the management on the TA2 features to electronically process purchases from wholesalers.

This session will cover all steps in the process for Electronic Ordering:

  • Review the process to submit the Wantlist.
  • Review the process to retrieve the Wantlist.
  • Learn how to translate the Wantlist response into a Purchase Order.
  • Learn how to process MBS orders electronically using License Plate Receiving.
